On August 1-5, 2012 Troop 10 went on its annual
river trip to Maine's St. Croix River. Running the
border between the United States & Canada, the troop
paddled 20 miles from Vanceboro to Loon Bay.
The weather was great and fun was had by all. The
trip included swimming and fishing stops along the
river and camping at the Little Falls and Loon Bay
sites. The drive up featured stops at the Kittery
Trading Post, Kittery and the Old Town Canoe Factory
in Old Town, where the troop purchased another Old
Town Discovery 169, bringing the troops fleet of
canoes up to three, joining the Colonel 42 (so named
for Carl Brechlin) and the Wheaton 57 (so named for
Troop 10 founder Doc Wheaton). The newest boat will
be named in the coming months.
Also of note is that Troop 10 now has a canoe
trailer, locally fabricated from materials donated
from local businesses and assembled by Steve Beebe
and Bob Kowalski. |
